Kenya’s Lake Turkana wind project delayed

Nairobi, Kenya — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 18 March 2011 – First power from Kenya’s 300MW Lake Turkana wind project ‒ the largest of its kind in Africa ‒ has been pushed back slightly because of delays in obtaining the necessary government guarantees. 

In January the Kenyan government finally provided letters of support from the ministry of finance, giving its backing to lenders for the 560 million euro (US$784 million) project.
